How Lotto numbers work

The current format uses 6 numbers from 1–45, introduced in September 2026; numbers 46 and 47 are no longer in the pool. The Bonus Ball is drawn by the operator. Lotto Plus and raffle entries are not included.

This page is for Lotto (Ireland). Main numbers are distinct and displayed in ascending order. There is no separately selected extra number in this generator.

Match all 6 main numbers in one draw. Under a fair draw, the displayed chance for one complete line in one round is 1 in 8,145,060. This is the specified top-match category, not the chance of winning any prize.

C(45, 6) = 8,145,060

C(n, k) counts unordered selections of k distinct values from n. The science of chance explains why past results and visually balanced patterns do not improve a particular line’s chance.
